What defines a tall drawer unit?

A tall drawer unit is characterised by its vertical orientation, maximising storage capacity while occupying a minimal floor footprint. These pieces range from traditional chests and tallboys to specialised music cabinets and filing units.

How do I identify a Georgian piece?

Georgian pieces often display formal proportions, hand-cut dovetail joinery, and restrained decorative elements like brass pull handles. Timber choice in these examples tends toward dense, rich mahogany with mature patination developed over centuries.

Where were these cabinets used?

These units served functional storage roles in bedrooms, libraries, and studies for clothes, documents, or sheet music. Narrow configurations and bedside variants accommodated tighter domestic spaces without sacrificing vertical capacity.

How should I care for mahogany?

Mahogany furniture benefits from consistent indoor humidity levels and protection from direct, prolonged sunlight. Regular dusting with a soft cloth preserves the polished surface and maintains the natural timber grain.
