What pieces are included in a salon suite?

A salon suite typically consists of a small sofa paired with two matching armchairs, creating a unified seating arrangement for a drawing room. Larger configurations may expand to include additional chairs or specific drawing room sets designed for re-upholstery.

How do bedroom suites differ from salon sets?

Bedroom suites centre around a bedstead accompanied by matching bedside cabinets or marble top nightstands, often incorporating burr walnut and marquetry. Salon sets focus on upholstered seating such as settees and bergere armchairs intended for formal reception spaces.

Which periods do these suites date from?

The available pieces span from the mid-nineteenth century through the Art Deco period of the 1930s. Victorian and early twentieth-century examples predominate, reflecting various revival styles including Louis XV and Empire.

What materials are typical for these pieces?

Walnut and burr walnut form the primary timber framework, frequently complemented by marble tops on bedside cabinets. Upholstery utilises textiles such as damask, velvet, leather, and cane panelling.
