How do I hang a heavy antique chandelier safely?

Suspension requires fixing directly into the ceiling joist or using a designated ceiling rose rated to bear the substantial weight of bronze and crystal structures. Professional electrical installation ensures the internal wiring is safe for modern mains usage and that the hanging chain supports the load securely.

Can these chandeliers be adjusted for ceiling height?

The overall drop can typically be altered by removing or adding links from the hanging chain supplied with the fixture. Care must be taken to ensure the electrical flex is shortened or managed correctly alongside the suspension chain.

How should I clean crystal drops on an antique fixture?

Gently wiping individual glass and crystal pendants with a mild solution of warm water and a soft cloth prevents damage to the surrounding metalwork. Harsh chemical cleaners should be avoided to protect the original gilt surfaces and patinated brass frames.

What is the difference between Empire and Rococo styles?

Empire style fixtures emphasise classical symmetry, military motifs, and clean architectural lines inspired by antiquity. Rococo designs favour asymmetrical curves, naturalistic scrolling foliage, and exuberant ornamental flourishes.
