How do I style a console table and mirror set?

Place the console against a prominent wall with the matching mirror secured above it to anchor the arrangement. Keep surface objects minimal to let the carved timber and reflective glass remain the focal point of the room.

What periods do these mirrored pieces cover?

The selection spans from nineteenth century Empire and Victorian revivals through to early twentieth century Art Deco. Dates cluster heavily around the late nineteenth century and the Edwardian era, reflecting shifting continental tastes.

Are dressing tables and washstands sturdy?

Solid hardwoods like mahogany, oak and walnut provide robust structural integrity for daily domestic use. Marble tops and heavy mirrored backs require careful positioning on level flooring to maintain stability.

How do I identify a revival style?

Revival pieces borrow heavily from seventeenth and eighteenth century court aesthetics, such as Louis XV scrollwork or Louis XVI symmetry. Craftsmen of the nineteenth century reinterpreted these classical motifs using contemporary machinery and finishing techniques.
