How do I fit a large wardrobe?

Many Edwardian wardrobes dismantle into modular sections, including cornices, base plinths, and individual side carcasses, to assist with transportation and room placement. Buyers should measure ceiling height and doorway clearance carefully before attempting delivery, as these heavy timber pieces often require professional assembly on site.

What is a compactum wardrobe?

A compactum is a multi-functional storage piece that divides its interior between wardrobe hanging space and banks of internal drawers or shelves. This design provides comprehensive storage for both hanging garments and folded items inside a single unified cabinet.

How do I care for antique wood?

Maintain timber surfaces by applying quality beeswax polish periodically and avoiding exposure to direct sunlight or sudden radiator heat. Keep mirrored glass clean using standard glass cleaner, taking care to prevent liquid from seeping behind the antique silver backing or wood frame.

Are these pieces easy to dismantle?

Large wardrobes from this era were engineered with knockdown bolts, slotted panels, and removable cornices so delivery teams could install them upstairs. Keeping track of original wooden pins, screws, and numbered panels ensures stability when reassembling the cabinet in a new location.
