What is included in a set?

These assemblies range from small tabletop groupings of scent bottles and hand mirrors to large bedroom furniture suites involving wardrobes and dressing chests. Buyers also encounter cased travel trios and manicure sets that bring together multiple grooming tools in a fitted box.

How do I date these pieces?

Dating relies on hallmarks on silver mounts, stylistic indicators such as Art Nouveau curves or Arts and Crafts simplicity, and underlying wood types. Edwardian items frequently display lighter satin walnut or inlaid details, whereas Victorian examples lean towards flame mahogany and heavier carved supports.

How were dressing jars used?

Dressing jars and scent bottles held perfumes, powders, and creams on a bedroom dressing table during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Travelling versions came in fitted leather cases to protect glass vessels during transit.

How do I care for silver and glass?

Silver mounts require gentle cleaning with appropriate cloths to preserve embossed details without damaging surrounding glass or enamel work. Wood elements such as walnut and mahogany benefit from regular dusting and occasional wax application to maintain the finish.
