How do I wear antique earrings safely?

Ensure the hooks, clips, or posts are checked by a professional jeweller before regular wear to guarantee security. Store them individually in soft pouches to protect the delicate platinum settings and soft stones from scratching against other items.

Can I convert screw-back or clip earrings?

Many jewellers can adapt antique mechanisms to modern posts or different fittings depending on the original construction. Consult a specialist who understands antique platinum work to preserve the structural integrity of the piece during any alteration.

How do I clean delicate platinum jewellery?

Use warm soapy water and a soft brush to remove everyday oils and debris trapped within the intricate metalwork. Avoid harsh ultrasonic cleaners if the piece contains natural pearls, emeralds, or jadeite, as these organic and treated gems require gentle hand care.

How do I distinguish Edwardian from Art Deco styles?

Edwardian pieces typically showcase lace-like platinum scrollwork, garlands, and softer organic motifs reflecting a graceful aesthetic. Art Deco designs introduce geometric lines, sharp angles, and symmetrical patterns that mark a distinct transition away from flowing Edwardian curves.
