Can I replace a missing glass shade?

Finding an exact replacement shade for a vintage fixture presents a considerable challenge due to distinct period dimensions and proprietary fitter sizes. Matching the gallery diameter requires careful measurement of the opening. Many collectors prefer to source period-correct replacement shades from the same decade to maintain the aesthetic integrity of the original metal frame.

How do I clean opaline and frosted glass?

Wash glass shades gently in warm water using a mild, non-abrasive detergent and a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners that might damage painted details or vintage surface textures. Dry the glass thoroughly before reassembling it into the metal gallery to prevent moisture spots or corrosion on surrounding brass and chrome components.

Are these lights rewired for modern use?

Many vintage fixtures receive updated internal wiring to meet modern electrical safety standards while retaining their original exterior components. Rewiring ensures safe operation with contemporary bulb types. Check individual listings to confirm whether the internal flex and lamp holders have been updated by the dealer prior to purchase.
