What goes on an antique marble plinth stand?

These stands traditionally support bronze sculptures, marble busts, large urns or lamps, raising them to eye level. They function as independent decorative focal points or as architectural pedestals for display.

Are these stands suitable for heavy bronze sculptures?

Many nineteenth century examples are engineered from dense stone or metal to bear significant weight safely. Solid marble columns and robust bronze integrations provide a stable foundation for heavy figures.

What is the difference between an onyx and a marble column?

Onyx is a translucent banded variety of chalcedony that allows light to pass through its surface layers. Marble is a metamorphic rock formed from recrystallised carbonate minerals with opaque veining.
