What subjects appear in the paintings?

Painted works include historical genre scenes, maritime subjects featuring sailing ships and fishermen, horse portraits, and academic studies. These reflect the diverse artistic interests of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Works range from detailed oil paintings on canvas and board to original drawings and painted panels.

How do I care for antique wood and gilt surfaces?

Antique wood and giltwood require protection from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and moisture fluctuations. Gentle dusting with a soft, dry cloth helps maintain the finish without damaging delicate leaf. Harsh chemical cleaners should be avoided entirely, as they strip patination and original painted or gilded layers from the surface.
