What periods do these pieces span?

The listings encompass items produced from the nineteenth century through the early twentieth century. Examples draw upon Georgian proportions alongside Victorian and Edwardian manufacturing methods. Revival movements also influence the selection, incorporating Chippendale and Queen Anne stylistic references into tables and standard lamps.

How were wine tables utilised?

Wine tables served as movable occasional surfaces during evening gatherings and afternoon tea service. Their compact footprints allowed easy placement beside seating. Their portable nature meant they could be repositioned around a drawing room as required throughout the day.

How do I identify a standard floor lamp?

Standard floor lamps provide elevated vertical illumination rather than a surface for resting small objects. They utilise sturdy weighted bases or tripod configurations to support tall wooden or brass columns. These structures accommodated fabric shades and functioned as primary room lighting before built-in wall fixtures became common.

What timber varieties are most common?

Mahogany and oak appear frequently across both side tables and floor-standing supports. Walnut and burr walnut also feature prominently, particularly on decorative display and tray top surfaces. Selected pieces incorporate secondary materials like marble inserts or brass fittings to enhance structural stability and visual detail.
