Description

An exceptional 19thc lignum vitae exotic hardwood carpentry mallet. It’s hard to date this item exactly - it could have been made any time in the 19thc or around 1900 but most likely it dates from c1850. It is in remarkably good condition, after being cleaned and polished. It seems to have been little used as a carpenter’s tool. The varied colours, grains and patina of this exotic lignum vitae object are outstanding. A rare and collectible piece.
