Frederick V was born at Copenhagen Castle March 31st 1723. He had two younger Sisters but only one survived infancy.
Frederick’s education was quite sparse and he wasn’t a very dedicated student. His teachers complained that he was more interested in pleasurable activities such as hunting, drinking and women. So much so that later, his father King Christian VI considered disinheriting him.
On December 11th 1743, 20 year old Frederick married 19 year old Princess Louisa of Great Britain whose father was King George II. King Christian hoped that the marriage would put a damper on crowned Prince Fredericks affairs and drunkenness.
1745-1752, Frederick had an affair with a madame Hansen, and they had five children. Notwithstanding the affair, Frederick and Louisa got along quite well, and they had five children.
August 6th 1746, King Christian VI died and Frederick became King of Demark.
While pregnant with her sixth child, 27 year old Louisa died due to complications from a miscarriage. Frederick married his second wife, 22 year old Princess Juliana at Frederiksberg Palace July 8th 1752. The couple had one child.
In 1760, Frederick broke his leg
...which affected his health for the rest of his life. He died January 14th 1766 at Christianborg Palace in Copenhagen, Denmark at the age of 42. He was buried at Roskilde Cathedral.
