Robert Mouseman Thompson was a British craftsman based in Kilburn, North Yorkshire, who became prominent during the 1920s and 1930s. His workshop adhered to the principles of the Arts and Crafts movement, producing hand-carved English oak furniture identifiable by its signature high-relief mouse carving.

Traditional Mouseman chairs are constructed from solid English oak using mortise and tenon joinery secured with oak pegs. The surface features hand-adzed timber texture, and seats are typically finished in hide leather, slung over framed stretchers.

Authentic 1930s pieces display distinct hand-adzed ripple marks across structural timbers and feature the carved mouse motif, which in early examples was integrated directly into leg supports with defined detail.
