A Gilt Mantel Clock, Japay Freres

Description

A good quality gilt bronze mantel clock. Acorn finials to the arched top and surmounted by a classical urn. Scrolled mounts to the chamfered case sides and applied gilt ormolu floral mounts to the case. Fretwork panels to the sides and a glass rear door showing the mechanism. A gilt embossed dial with blue Roman numeral enamel cartouches. Adjustable feet. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a bell signed Japay Freres. Circa 1895.
