N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this piece to the Regency era.
This stunning antique regency clock has a bronze case with a lovely patina.
The movement housing then has a beautiful floral gilt bronze mount to the front as well as a further decorative gilt bronze mount to the left side. To the right of the movement housing is then a stunning, intricately cast bronze figure of a man wearing a flowing cloth whilst leaning against the movement housing. The bronze figure is extraordinarily detailed and looks completely natural leaning against the rest of the case. The whole thing then sits upon a rectangular bronze base with a stepped out top and a wonderful gilt bronze mount featuring a maidens head to the front. Finally the case is finished by four beautifully turned gilt bronze feet.
The dial is then enamel and set out in black Roman numerals with a thing ring of dashed to the outside marking the minutes. The dial then has an intricately shaped gilt bronze surround as well as two lovely shaped hands. The dial does appear to have had some restoration around the winding hole although this doesn’t detract from the piece at all!
The movement is then a wonderful single chain fusee example of the upmost quality with beautiful shaped pillars and an unusually small size. The clock ticks away perfectly as it should and comes complete with its regular pendulum and winding key.
