A sleek and stylish George V era silver photo frame with clear hallmarks for Chester 1913 and makers mark for Pearce & Sons. Pearce & Sons registered at the Chester Assay Office in May 1913, so this might be one of the early pieces assayed by this maker. The silver photo frame is Art Deco in style with a plain silver surround. The lower part of the frame has more depth than the sides and top, intended for an inscription, popular at the time, but never fulfilled on this piece. The silver frame is mounted on a quality oak easel back, with silver keepers and and a silver overlap at the top to keep the easel back in place. Excellent condition - a photo frame made at the start of the Art Deco era and heralding that style, and with a Chester hallmark too.
