Sold by: Steve Sly Japanese Works of Art

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this captivating and somewhat humorous Meiji Period (1868-1912), bronze okimono group depicting a pair of monkeys wrestling over a sprig of fruit, the monkeys entwined with one clambering upon the other attempting in vain to grab the prized fruit, as with our other recently listed monkey okimono this fascinating study has been cast at the highly regarded foundry of Genryusai Seiya, it once again stems from the estate of a UK lady collector. Signed in a seal to the underside this most charming rendition of everyday primate life is sure to brighten up your Japanese works of art collection and will suit any shelf space in the room of your choice.
