Rare 19th Century Silver Plated Folding Biscuit Box

Description

A fine silver plated folding biscuit box. Dating to the mid 19th Century and bearing the marks for respected makers Mappin Bros (c1863-1894). On a rustic bark effect stand and opening to reveal two grilled compartments. Engraved on one cartouche for 'Presented by RC to CC 22 July 1887 as a Happy Remembrance of the 22 July 1863'.

The condition is very good with no dents or splits. With a very firm mechanism and a clean interior. The plating is in very good order, with no signs of plate loss but with a few minor scratches as to be expected due to age and use.

Weight approx 1.6kg.
