The Fancy Fox has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
Inside is gilt washed with a mirror fitted inside the cover. Marked only with maker's initials D.H probably for Daniel Hockley, c.1810-1819.

It measures 8cm (3 1/8") long, 2.5cm (1") deep and 1.5cm (5/8") high and weighs 43g / 1.4ozt.
In excellent condition with no damage or repair. Three pin pricks dints to the rim of the base and two small areas of the machine engraving on the base that have been rubbed smooth. Minor handling wear otherwise and the hinge is good. The mirror will be a replacement and is immaculate.
