Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An enfilade is a long, low sideboard featuring a continuous row of doors along its front, originating as a key feature in European cabinetry. Swedish enfilades from the Gustavian period were heavily influenced by French Neoclassicism, combining restrained geometric lines with light, pale-painted finishes suited to northern light conditions.

Traditional Swedish sideboards were typically crafted from native softwoods such as pine or fir, fitted with simple iron or brass hardware. The timber surfaces were finished using hand-applied milk paints or tempera in muted grey, off-white, or pale blue tones.

Authentic pieces exhibit signs of historic construction, including hand-dovetailed drawer joints, pegged joinery, and field-panelled door construction. The painted finish usually displays natural surface wear, faint brushmarks, and visible underlying layers of paint or timber around handles and edges.

Painted enfilades serve as a neutral anchor in dining rooms, wide hallways, or living spaces. Designers often contrast their structured panelled fronts with contemporary artwork, ceramic vessels, or sculptural lighting positioned on the upper surface.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth to protect the painted finish. Avoid using water, harsh detergents, or solvent-based polishes that can degrade historical paint layers or alter the original patina.
