Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chuval is a large traditional storage bag woven by nomadic Turkmen tribes to store clothing, bedding, and household goods inside a yurt. The decorative front panel, or face, was hand-knotted with specific tribal guls that identified the lineage and clan of the weaver.

Authentic nineteenth-century chuvals were hand-knotted using hand-spun wool for both the pile and structural foundation. Dyes were derived from natural plant and insect sources, creating deep madder reds, blues from indigo, and warm terracotta tones.

Authentic antique pieces feature soft hand-spun wool, subtle variations in natural dye tones, fine asymmetrical knotting, and specific octagonal gul motifs. Examining the back of the textile reveals knot density and natural wear consistent with nomadic use.

A chuval face can be mounted and hung as textile wall art, displayed over a bench or console table, or utilized as a small accent area rug. The deep crimson tones and geometric patterns complement both traditional and modern minimalist interiors.

Clean textiles using a low-suction vacuum without a beater bar to avoid pulling the wool fibres. Keep the piece out of direct sunlight to prevent natural dyes from fading, and consult a specialist conservator for deep cleaning or repairs.
