Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Delftware refers to tin-glazed earthenware decorated with cobalt blue hand-painted designs, originating in Delft, Netherlands. During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, potteries produced decorative ceramic urns and vase cases adapted with metal mounts to house mechanical clock movements.

These clocks are constructed primarily from hand-painted tin-glazed earthenware pottery, complemented by cast or stamped brass or bronze bezels and mounts that secure the clock movement and dial within the ceramic body.

Authentic pieces generally feature hand-painted makers marks or initials painted in cobalt on the underside, subtle variations in the hand-painted glaze work, signs of natural age wear to the glaze base, and period-appropriate horological brasswork.

Position the piece as a central focus on a fireplace mantelpiece, console table, or sideboard, pairing it with simpler brass or glass decorative objects to highlight the intricate blue and white hand-painted pattern.

Clean the ceramic body using a dry or slightly damp soft cloth, taking care not to submerge the piece or allow water to contact the clock movement. Metal mounts should be dusted gently without abrasive polishes, and mechanical clock internal movements require periodic servicing by a horological professional.
