Sampson Mordan Silver & Porcelain Speckled Egg Scent Bottle, London 1887

Description

This unusual and tactile silver mounted glazed porcelain scent bottle, shaped as a bird's egg, was designed by the highly collectable Sampson Mordan and is fully hallmarked for London 1887. The glazed pale grey porcelain body with silver flecks, giving the scent a pale blue hue. Egg scent bottles are hard to come by and are therefore very desirable and collectable. The silver screw-top engraved with initials. The inner silver top fitted with original cork.

Hallmarks:

S.M for Sampson Mordan.

London Assay mark.

Lion Passant.

Date letter "M" for 1887.

Condition:

Porcelain body in excellent condition.

Silver lid in very good condition.

Original inner cork

Silver neck in very good condition.

Dimensions:

Height: 6.5cm / 2.4 inches.

Maximum width: 3.5cm / 1.2 inches.
