An Unusual Irish Silver Rat-tail Silver Gravy Ladle

An unusual Irish silver gravy ladle from the Georgian era. This splendid example is in Fiddle pattern and has a rat-tail to the reverse of the bowl. This particular feature appears to be peculiarly Irish in origin, as English fiddle pattern does not usually have this. With so much flatware now melted for scrap this is a desirable find, particularly for collectors of Irish silver. A fine piece with a practical use. Dimensions below.
