Description

A fine pair of Deco era French spelter deer bookends on marble bases c1930. These bookends feature a pair of deer, stretching to reach berries and leaves, standing among stylised grasses. They are finely cast in spelter, with a burnished bronzed and gilt finish. The deer are fixed to good quality grey, red and beige marble bases, with felt beneath. These bookends are in exceptionally good condition, and the burnished finish has very little signs of wear. They are also quite tall, and will make a statement piece to surround a favourite collection of books.
