Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Imari porcelain originates from the Arita region of Japan, exported via the port of Imari during the Edo period. These wares feature signature underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze iron-red and gold decoration, often adapted into table lamps for Western interiors during the late 19th and 20th centuries.

These lamps consist of a hard-paste porcelain vase decorated with enamel paint and gilding, mounted onto a turned brass or bronze base fitted with electrical components and a lampshade.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-painted asymmetry in floral panel decoration, subtle spur marks on the unglazed foot, a slight blue tint to the white glaze, and gentle surface wear on the overglaze red enamel and gilding.

Position the lamp on a dark wood sideboard or console table to contrast with the vibrant pigments, paired with a tailored pleated fabric shade to complement traditional and layered modern schemes.

Dust the porcelain base regularly with a soft dry cloth, avoiding chemical solvents or water that could damage the overglaze gilding and enamels. Inspect the electrical flex and socket regularly via a qualified electrician.
