Antique Longcase Clock Wootton Bassett

Description

A small Wiltshire 'cottage' longcase clock. A swan-neck hood pediment with brass patterae and central finial. Brass capped hood columns. An oak case with mahogany crossbanding. An attractive painted dial with gilt floral corners and a bird to the centre. A date aperture. A 30 hour mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

John Angel of Wootton Bassett is recorded in Young's 'Wiltshire Watch and Clockmakers' book as working from 1829 to 1851.
