Art Deco Gents 10k Rolled Gold Watch by Bulova, C1939

1920 - 1940
Description

For your consideration is this superb Art Deco gents manual watch made in New York in 1939 at the outbreak of WW2 in Europe, this vintage BULOVA gents watch features a striking Art Deco dial and is ready to wear having just undergone a full overhaul and professional servicing. 21-jewel BULOVA 7AP hand-wound mechanical movement.

Size 20mm wide, excluding crown x 37mm total length

Width: 20mm, excluding the crown.

Length: 29mm without lugs; 37mm total length to tips of the lugs.

Thickness: 8mm, including crystal.

Face/visible dial: 15.5mm x 24mm.

Strap: 16mm wide at the lugs, tapering to 14mm at the buckle.

Wrist fitting: Should fit a wrist size of between 160mm and 190mm.

The case is 10k yellow RGP (rolled gold plate) with snap on back. The back snaps on tightly and securely to the top with no gaps. The back is signed B-10K ROLLED GOLD PLATE, plus the serial number starting with 9. On a Bulova of this era, and with this particular movement, this indicates a manufacture date of 1939.

The inside is signed BULOVA FIFTH AVE NEW YORK.

This watch is powered by a USA-made BULOVA 21-jewel 7AP hand-wound mechanical movement. The 7AP was manufactured from 1936 to 1944 and features a Breguet hairspring, as used on other high-end watches such as Rolex and noted for aiding more consistent timekeeping throughout the duration of the wind.

In superb condition with stainless back free from engravings. A really handsome looking watch that comes complete with a new unworn leather strap in mid tone tan colour.

This watch is perfect both for everyday wear and for adding to the collections. A lovely watch any gentleman would love to wear. Shows no wear-through to the gold. Recently serviced last month, this watch keeps good time and has also been ultrasonically cleaned so it's as hygienic as possible.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
