Young & (William) Trotter: A George III mahogany side table, c.1801
This table forms part of a documented Trotter commission for Sir Alexander Kinloch (Bt.) of Gilmerton House (pictured)
£580
An excellent quality table comparable with the furniture supplied by Young, Trotter and Hamilton for the apartments of the exiled Comte d''Artois at the Palace of Holyroodhouse a handful of years earlier.
The table is in well-presented condition and structurally sound. The handle is a replacement, and there is some general wear commensurate with age including a faint ring mark to the top and a minor and historic repair to the top of one back leg.
With thanks to the Kinloch family for allowing me to photograph the table in situ.
