Antique silver Limit pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the name Limit. The Limit brand name was first registered in 1917 by Hirst Brothers of Oldham, UK. They imported Swiss watches and branded them with the brand name Limit.

The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Birmingham 1925 with a case maker’s mark for Aaron Dennisons. Dennisons was a Birmingham based case manufacturer and supplier to various watch makers. The case is in lovely condition and the engine turned detail to the back of the watch is still nice and crisp, with a vacant cartouche to the centre.

The glass lens is in lovely condition.

The signed dial is in very nice condition too with original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes with a single chain, probably 1920s, which measures 38cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. There are lion silver marks on the links although most are rubbed. The T-bar and clasp are probably later replacements. Also included is a silver locket with a horse shoe to the front. The locket is hallmarked for Birmingham 1900. The chain and fob measure 21g.

The watch and chain come in a new presentation box.
