A Weighted Jaques Staunton ’4.5 inch’ Boxwood & Ebony Chess Set, 1930s

both kings stamped JAQUES LONDON in red along the rim, the chessmen with light pea-green baizes to the underside, in a mahogany and brass-mounted box with a central divide to the interior and green label: J. Jaques & Son Ltd, London, England and Howard Staunton’s facsimile signature.

King: 11.1cm high

Pawn: 6.1cm high

Box: 23.5cm wide, 17.6cm deep, 10.9cm high
