Description

A fine quality pair of late 19thC French ormolu (gilt bronze) cast curtain tie backs c1880. These finally modelled curtain tie back feature an ornate wall mount from which emerges a downward curving elongated leaf, hiding the curved tie back behind, which terminates in a handsome and substantial scrolling acanthus leaf. The curtains would be held back by a twisted cord, hooked over the tie back giving the tie backs prominence in the interior design. The wall mounts have bar backs, each numbered 511, as a pair, with the artisan’s initials HB, which are marks of quality.
