Description

This beautiful Victorian red agate brooch set in solid silver with a rope-twist motif has been carved and polished into an unusual quatrefoil shape which makes the facets shine as they reflect the light.

Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria from the mid 1800s when she and Prince Albert frequently visited Scotland and her Scottish castle Balmoral. She loved all things Scottish and spent much time in the Highlands and Cairngorm mountains where these Scottish "pebble" stones were collected.

The piece is in excellent antique condition.
