A Rare Swiss Musical Automaton Novelty Nursery Merry Go Round.

This delightful object was made in Switzerland, circa 1920. It is beautifully constructed from wood. The octagonal base is raised onto small turned feet and houses the musical works and the automaton mechanism which are both operated simultaneously by rotating the small metal and wood cranked handle. This handle when turned rotates the revolving merry-go-round of individual children which includes a school girl with ducklings, another with a balloon, a small child with a rabbit, a small boy with a horn and a girl with a pram all circling the central tree whilst the music is playing. This piece is completely handmade and beautifully hand painted. It is all original and in full working order, Swiss, circa 1920.
