Exquisite Silver Mounted Amethyst Overlay Glass Scent Bottle by Charles May, Birmingham 1895

Description

This beautiful silver and overlay glass scent bottle is in the very sought-after amethyst colour. It was made by Charles May and is dated Birmingham 1895. The spherical body is cut to clear glass in circular and oval patterns and has a silver hinged top. The neck fitted with a clear glass stopper.

Hallmarks:

CM for Charles May

Birmingham Assay mark.

Lion Passant.

Date letter "u" for 1895.

Condition:

Very Good.

Silver lid in very good condition.

Glass in very good condition.

Strong hinge.

Dimensions:

Height: 6.5cm / 2.4 inches.

Diameter: 5cm / 2 inches.
