Related to the chairs A.W.N Pugin designed for the House of Commons but on a larger, more domestic scale with a raked back and some additional carving to the front legs. Both chairs bear registration number to the rails.
Provenance: Rossie Priory, Perthshire.
Rossie Priory was designed by architect Wiliam Atkinson in 1807, for the 8th Lord of Kinnaird, the same year he completed the ''new'' Scone Palace for the Earl of Mansfield a few miles away.

The frames are structurally sound. The leather is original with wear and tear as shown, and the webbing on the underside requires attention. One chair lacking front castors...in all, authentic country house condition...
