A 17th century portrait of a French Judge, housed in a heavily moulded and ebonised walnut frame.
The portrait shows a well painted subject with long hair and heavy collar, with an almost menacing facial expression.
A later lining has been applied to the centre of the back at some stage but overall the painting is in excellent condition.
