Corvidae Antique has dated this piece to the Victorian era.

Either face of the locket can be worn to the front - the two flying swallows on one side or the flower basket on the other. In Victorian England a flying swallow was traditionally considered a token of good luck and the bird represented enduring love and loyalty, as the swallow mates for life.

The locket is empty inside, with ample space for small keepsakes or pills - or of course photographs!
The piece is in very good antique condition; there are minor indents to the surfaces in some lights but no major dents or scratches, see photos/video. The bail and hinge are in good working order and the clasp snaps securely shut with a click.

Marked 9CT BACK & FRONT.
Size: 2.9 x 2.2cm, not including the bail.
Weight: 3.7g.
