N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
This lovely miniature antique mantel clock has a mahogany case with a lovely colour and grain. The top of the case is then round with a lovely arched, silk backed fretwork panel to the top. The body of the case is then square leading to a small shaped moulding around the bottom edge. Finally the case is finished by four round brass feet.
The dial is then signed to the centre by the maker “Gurdon Woodbridge”. The dial then has a small disk to the centre so the alarm can be set. Finally the dial is finished by two lovely shaped hands as well as a domed, protective glass set into a brass bezel.
The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. The movement is a miniature single fusee example of the upmost quality. The movement also features a small string which when pulled winds the alarm feature. The movement ticks away and works as it should as well as coming complete with its pendulum and winding key.
A very rare clock that is one of the smallest examples of a fusee alarm clock that I have seen!
It measures approximately:
10.75” / 27.25cm Tall.
7” / 17.75cm Wide.
4” / 10cm Deep.
