A very good, original, Charles II period, dark oak coffer, Circa 1675, of fairly small proportions. This coffer with solid plank hinged top. Carved triple panel front, each panel with carved lozenges. Panelled sides and back. Raised on short through stiles. Lock and escutcheon. Original base.
A high quality coffer is in a very good original condition. All the timbers are original with only a lock and escutcheon later additions. Cleaned and waxed and ready to use.

This coffer measures approximately 53.5 cm cm (21'') tall, 115 cm (45.25'') wide, and 54.5 cm (22.5'') deep.

...e catch for the lock from the inside of the lid is absent. A few later screws have been put into the stretcher part of top, likely to secure it. The back top left corner of the top has a small high quality sympathetic repair. A very small amount of extinct old worm holes, which do not affect the sturdiness of the piece, and has been treated. In good working order, very serviceable and ready to use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
