A Rare Small 18thc Welsh Oak and Pine Box Seat Settle.

Description

The smallest 18thc welsh box seat settle we have owned in 47 years of selling antiques.

A real piece of welsh history and as far as our books go there isnt a smaller one illustrated in either "welsh furniture " of traditions of oak

It measures 94cms h.72cms wide and 47cms deep.

We are dating it as 1800 and havent a clue to its region of origin

Obviously not made for a grand house but probably a welsh longhouse or similar

Because of its naivety we have left

All the blacksmith repairs and have just stabilised it, treated it for potential woodworm and gently waxed it. Dont worry its been around for over 200 years and probably has another 200 years left. In "posh" terms this is a true piece of venacular furniture.

Whoever is the lucky buyer is buying a true one off.
