Description

This beautiful 'dizlyk' - wedding camel knee decoration - lost its partner at some point in the distant past!

Nevertheless, here we have a stunning second half nineteenth century dizlyk in wonderful, condition with original tassels. Dizlyks were made in pairs and tied around the knees of the bridal camel during the wedding procession. This dizlyk was made by the Yomut Turkmen in the trans-Caspian Steppes and has survived the ravages of time. To find a pair these days is not easy as many were split up when they were acquired during the late nineteenth/early twentieth century.

Size including tassels: 44cm x 30cm (17" x 12").
