Description

A single but charming little Turkmen 'dizlyk' - wedding camel knee decoration - made by Yomut tribes in the trans-Caspian Steppes circa 1900.

The dizlyks were made in pairs and with the long, braided cords that emanate from each top corner, would then be tied around the knobbly knees of the camel carrying the bride, during the wedding procession.

Sadly in this case, the pair to this one has gone elsewhere, but at least there is one beautiful example which would look stunning hanging on the wall.

Size including tassels: 44cm x 30cm (17" x 12").
