Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, cast iron doorstops, also known as door porters, were weighted decorative objects designed to hold heavy interior doors open.

These metalwork items were crafted by pouring molten iron into sand moulds, resulting in dense, heavy castings featuring high-relief decorative details such as sea creatures, acanthus leaves, and classical figures.

Authentic period pieces display crisp casting details, hand-finished seams, subtle surface oxidisation, and slight base wear, rather than the lightweight metals and modern painted coatings seen on reproductions.

Position the piece at the foot of an entrance door, beside a fireplace hearth, or on a low shelf as a weighted sculptural accent within traditional or eclectic design schemes.

Dust regularly with a soft dry brush and apply a thin coat of microcrystalline wax to protect the metal from ambient humidity and prevent surface rust.
