Beautiful Mahogany French Inlaid Bracket Clock Henry Marc 1880

19th century
Description

Outstanding French Mother Of Pearl inlaid mahogany bracket clock c1880

~~ Excellent condition throughout ~~

This is an exceptional example of a classic French mahogany bracket or mantel clock.

The case is simply quite stunning, made of mahogany which has a wonderful colour but what is most striking is the quality of the inlay of brass, satinwood and mother of pearl surrounding the clock, this is complimented by the original polished brass bezel with the silver dial. The only mark worth menthioning is a minute piece of chipped vaneer to the left hand rear edge which can be seen in the photographs.

It has a solid brass pineapple finial and lion mask handles and stands on brass bracket feet.

The quality and attention to detail is quite stunning.

The clock strikes the hours and the half hours on a tuned gong which has the most beautiful mellow tone and resonates for a very long time.

This movement is by the top French maker Henry Marc and it is an outstanding piece of top quality engineering and is totally original and again is clearly marked.

It also comes with a winding key, a fine adjustment key and original numbered pendulum.

The movement has just undergone a full overhaul, clean and service so you can be assured that this clock is in tip top condition and will give trouble free service for many years to come. There is a very minute piece of veneer missing from the left hand rear edge measuring about 10mm by 10mm but this is hardly noticeable and certaiinly does not detract from the clock at all.

It is keeping accurate time to within 1 minute a week.

This is a clock of the highest quality which is rarely seen.

The clock movement comes with a full 12 month warranty.

Dimensions of clock: Height 15" Width is 8" Depth 5.5"
