Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The lid of the box has some raised detailing in the classic ribbon and reed design.
The shell is inlaid with exquisite intricate silver pique inlay.

Of course all of this top-notch decoration is explained by the well renowned silversmith who made it, William Comyns. The box is also hallmarked for London 1909, Edwardian in era. Excellent condition, measuring 2 3/8" tall with a lid diameter measuring 3 1/4" in diameter.
