~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~
It is of a beautifully chic design, four turned corner columns with a cushion shaped top with 5 finials. The front and sides are mounted with Sèvres style porcelain panels, finely painted with country scenes with a beautiful red ground. Over-glaze gilt decoration is studded with turquoise porcelain 'jewels'.
The dial is part of the front panel, the twelve numerals painted in white reserves with gilt borders. Blued steel hands are original.
The French movement is by Achille Brocot and is of superb quality. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. We have a video of the clock running and striking, please ask and we will send you a link.
Condition of the case is excellent, the original gilding is beautifully clean and bright with some wear, mostly to the sides of the base and centre finial where the clock has been handled. Porcelain is excellent with no damage, just very slight wear to the over-glaze gilt decoration and a few or the turquoise 'jewels' missing.
Achille Brocot was a member of the renowned Brocot clockmaking family, the eldest son of Louis Gabriel Brocot. He was treasurer to La Société des Horlogers in Paris and was awarded First Class Medal at the 1855 Paris Exhibition - Tardy, Dictionnaire des Horlogers.
Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
