Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Silver boxes produced during the reign of King George V (19101936) often feature a mix of traditional figurative engraving, engine-turned patterns, and emerging geometric influences. They were predominantly designed as functional desktop, vanity, or smoking accessories.

These items were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, meeting the British standard of 925 parts per thousand silver, and frequently featured gilded interiors, cedar wood linings for tobacco preservation, or velvet lining for jewellery.

Authenticity is verified through official British hallmark stamps, which include the lion passant for sterling silver, an assay office symbol (such as the leopards head for London or anchor for Birmingham), a makers mark, and a specific date letter representing the year of manufacture.

A silver box functions well as a decorative focal point on an office desk, coffee table, or mantelpiece. It serves both as a practical container for small items and as a refined metallic accent within contemporary or classic interior schemes.

Dust regularly with a soft cloth and polish periodically using a dedicated silver cloth or mild silver foam to remove tarnish. Avoid abrasive cleaners, store away from high humidity, and minimise direct skin contact to limit surface oxidisation.
