Large Antique Double Chain Fusee Five Glass Library Clock by Barwise London

19th century
Description

Large Antique Double Chain Fusee Five Glass Library Clock By Barwise London.

This Stunning antique Library clock has an extremely large case that isn’t often seen in Library clocks. It is an ebonised case and starts at the top with a thick bevelled glass panel leading to a moulding around the top edge. The body of the case is then square with two more thick, bevelled glass panels to the sides as well as glass to the front and back so that the movement and dial can be fully seen. There is then a lovely “belled out” section with is typically seen on library clocks and gives the piece a fantastic look. There is then a further shaped moulding leading to the base which is finished by four thin, square feet.

The dial is then painted and set out in black Roman numerals with a thin ring to the outside marking the minutes. The dial is then signed by the maker to the centre “Barwise LONDON”. The dial then sits in a beautiful gilt surround which is engraved with lovely scrolling patterns. Finally the dial is finished by two beautiful shaped hands.

The movement is then wound from the front and accessed from the back. It is a stunning double chain fusee example of the upmost quality. The clock ticks away as it should and chimes the number of hours on the hour via a bell. The clock then comes complete with its pendulum, travel nut, and winding key.

It measures approximately:

- 13.75” / 35cm Tall.

- 10” / 25.5cm Wide.

- 6.75” / 17cm Deep.

Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
